National Primary Education Week
National Primary Education Week: 3-7 August 2026

Primary school is where every Australian story begins.
National Primary Education Week (3-7 August 2026) is a moment to celebrate the extraordinary work happening inside primary schools every day, and the skilled, dedicated teachers, support staff and principals behind it all.
Primary schools across Australia will be opening their doors to their communities, hosting student-led forums, exhibitions and performances that showcase the inspiring learning taking place in their classrooms. Local leaders and former students will be returning to schools to connect with students and see how much has changed – and stayed the same – since they graduated.
The week culminates with the annual Australian Primary Principals Day on Friday, 7 August 2026 – a moment to recognise the exceptional leaders at the heart of every school. School principals are more than educators: they are community builders, mentors, crisis navigators and advocates for every child’s wellbeing and success.
