APPA Education Foundation

 

The APPA Education Foundation, is a charitable trust, operated on behalf of APPA (the trustee) for the advancement of primary education and related charitable purposes in Australia.

The Foundation is registered with the ACNC, operating as a public fund with deductible gift recipient (DGR1) status, and welcomes contributions from any person or organisation.

Foundation Objectives

The Foundation aims to:

  • Assist primary principals and school communities in improving student learning outcomes and quality of life;
  • Promote equity and improved outcomes, especially for students with significant educational, social or cultural challenges;
  • Foster creativity and support research aligned with Foundation objectives;
  • Develop, approve, and sponsor targeted programs to achieve the Foundation’s mission;
  • Set eligibility and develop resources for supported projects; and
  • Advance educational success, support innovation, and promote strong leadership.

Support Programs

The Foundation offers initiatives in:

  • Local resources and professional support for primary school improvement;
  • Research to advance educational outcomes;
  • Development and sharing of best practices and professional development models for teaching and primary school leadership; and
  • Partnerships for innovation among primary school leadership associations.

Priority Areas

The Foundations initial priorities include:

  • Indigenous Education: Dedicated focus on equity and improved outcomes for Indigenous students;
  • Equity, Literacy, Numeracy, Technology and Citizenship: Programs evolve to meet changing needs across these areas;
  • School Improvement: Primary school initiatives, reform, and outcomes-based education;
  • Community Partnerships: Enhanced communication and school-community engagement; and
  • Leadership: Innovation in school management and support for primary principal development.

Eligibility

The Foundation welcomes grant applications from:

  • Principals and staff from all Australian primary school sectors;
  • Primary school communities and leadership groups; and
  • Categories include student improvement, school innovation, community partnerships and leadership development.
