APPA Life Member
Congratulations Dennis Yarrington – Awarded APPA Life Member 16.02.2021
Dennis Yarrington served APPA with distinction as a member of the National Advisory Council and then as a highly esteemed president of the association from 2013 to 2018.
Dennis has embodied the ethos and culture of APPA. He has built enduring relationships amongst the wide group of education stakeholders including parents, industry groups, charities, not for profit organisations and our political representatives at state, territory and federal levels.
Dennis has remained steadfastly committed to collaborative effort in the interests of primary school leaders and the children of Australia. At all times measured, thoughtful and deeply respected for his knowledge he has been an outstanding representative at all levels including through the International Confederation of Principals and as a driving force in the Trans-Tasman relationship with the New Zealand Principals Federation.
Under Dennis’ leadership APPA continued to thrive and was able to grow its influence as the unified voice for primary education including the authorship of projects in wellbeing for principals and students, as well as the Primary Principals Charter. The association’s reputation continued to grow through Dennis’ representation in the media and in a range of forums including conferences, state sector meetings and Parliamentary Friends of Primary Education.
In recent times Dennis has skilfully led the emergence of the Principals Australia Research Foundation – firstly through his role as APPA president and latterly as Chair of the foundation.
