  • 11 December 2008 - APPA has issued a press release on the transparency of Federal funding. It starts: "The Australian Primary Principals' Association has expressed deep dismay and grave concern that some States may not be intending to use the $635 million for primary schools that the Federal Government announced last month. The money equates to about $100 per student and will be spent over four years as part of the new National Education Agreement agreed at COAG. However, APPA's National President, Ms. Leonie Trimper, said today that many States were offering "mixed messages" about the funding, with some states saying it may go into general revenue. Ms. Trimper praised South Australia and said it was the stand-out State because it was giving clear signals that the funding would go to primary schools. "However, many of the other States are not being at all transparent about this funding," Ms. Trimper said. Click here to read the complete press release.
